The beauty of the Sundarbans stimulates all of the senses. Witnessing the tigers in the wild is a priceless experience. Humidity and the chirping of birds fill the ears and break the silence of the jungle. Mangrove forests are some of the most visually stunning and ecologically significant ecosystems in the world. Cross the rivers and be terrified by the big cats and saltwater crocodiles at a place that never ceases to surprise. The rare Brahminy Kite birds are beckoning you to come and view them in all their splendor.
The forest has an area of around 9,630 square kilometers and is found on the delta formed by the meeting of the mighty Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. Two hundred distinct types of birds and eighty different types of mangroves. The maximum number of Royal Bengal Tigers may be found in this park, making it famous throughout India. The park is always accessible to visitors. Living a simpler life in the country is a big draw. Locals rely heavily on fishing, farming, honey collection, and other agricultural pursuits. Visit the neighboring towns and get to know the locals as you make your way to our resort.
Sundarbans locals give serious thought to religious matters. Several locals have turned to the same religious practice to mitigate the many calamities that befall their area. Here, Hindus and Muslims alike honor the same deities, such as Bonobibi, Monosha, and GaziPir. Even the sizable Christian minority lives in relative harmony with the majority.
The Sundarbans are at their most beautiful from September to March. The area has a tropical climate with extremely hot summers and cold winters.
The highest temperature recorded in the summer was 42 degrees Celsius, while the lowest was 31 degrees Celsius. In the winter, the high is 29 degrees Celsius and the low is 9.2 degrees Celsius.
On the premises, you’ll find both a temple dedicated to Bono Bibi and a park filled with crocodiles. There’s a sweet water pond where animals congregate to drink, and a watch tower with observation lines from which you may survey the forest below. In this area, avid bird-watchers will see a wide range of avian species. Deer and water monitor lizards are common inhabitants of this region.
The Sudhanyakhali Canal is the way to go to the Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower. In terms of tourism, this watchtower is a major draw. It faces a sweet water pond dug by the forest service, providing a clear line of sight from which to take in the surrounding scenery.
The main features include an accessible lookout tower and a canopy walk across the forest. Visitors may have a good look at the local fauna from a safe distance owing to the severed observation lines. There is a sweet water pond in the area, therefore tigers aren’t the only often spotted animals there. A sail through Matla — Sea Face (viewpoint of the Bay of Bengal) — a 5-river confluence point with a big water body all around — is required to reach this lookout tower.
The Netidhopani Watch Tower, located to the left of the main camp’s entrance, overlooks the ruins of a Shiva Temple that dates back 400 years. Located in a National Park, it is surrounded by beautiful trees and peaceful scenery.
Sir Daniel Mackinnon Hamilton’s cottage in Gosaba, where he established the greatest cooperative organization in the area. Beacon’s house in Gosaba was once occupied by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Sir Hamilton had extended an invitation for him to come. Because of this, the area has a significant history.
